Fraunhofer IIS
The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, also known as Fraunhofer IIS for short, is an institution of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e. V. The institute is based in Erlangen and its activities are classified as applied research and development in the field of computer science, information processing and telecommunications. Fraunhofer IIS is the largest institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS was founded in 1990, following the acquisition of the Erlangen Center for Microelectronics and Information Technology GmbH (ZMI) by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in 1985.
The scientists at Fraunhofer IIS conduct research in the fields of microelectronics, information processing, telecommunications, audio and multimedia technology, digital broadcasting, high-frequency technology, localization and navigation, satellite navigation, logistics and automation in mechanical and plant engineering. Another important topic is camera technology for digital cinema. Image capture and image recognition are key to quality control in manufacturing, production automation and medical technology. Intelligent image sensors, high-speed cameras and ultra-fine focus X-ray systems are also being developed for this purpose. (Source: Wikipedia)
