Based on genetic and forensic analyses, the ARTE documentary shows how radically the human way of life changed 7,500 years ago. It quickly becomes clear that the era was brutal and not at all idyllic. The people of the Neolithic period begin to be sedentary, build settlements and manage farms. Food is no longer only hunted or gathered; instead, grain cultivation and the keeping of farm animals determine the lives of the first farmers. Scientists speak of "a radical change in the human way of life" in the Neolithic. The revealing ARTE documentary "Violence and Cannibalism - Crime Scenes in the Neolithic Age" now takes a closer look at prehistoric coexistence.
This documentary was filmed in the summer of 2018 in the Stone Age Park Dithmarschen. (Source: arte programm in ARD mediathek)
