Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (until April 7, 2022 WarnerMedia, until June 2018 Time Warner) is an international media company with numerous business segments. Warner Bros. Discovery is headquartered in New York City and was created in 2022 through the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery.

Warner Bros. Discovery includes the film and television studio Warner Bros. Entertainment, the pay-TV channel Home Box Office (HBO), the news channel CNN, Time Inc. book and magazine publishers, Discovery Communications, and the comic publisher DC, which is the original publisher of the superhero comics about Superman and Batman, among others.

After the merger of AOL and Time Warner to form AOL Time Warner in 2000, the stock market value amounted to an estimated US$ 350 billion. This figure has fallen continuously since then and reached US$ 65.7 billion in 2009. 

Warner Bros, Turner Broadcasting System, Scripps Networks Interactive and Discovery, Inc. have a shared history. Warner Bros. was founded on April 4, 1923 by four brothers, Harry, Albert, Sam and Jack Warner. The company established itself as a leader in the American film industry before diversifying into animation, television and video games, and is one of the “Big Five” American film studios and a member of the Motion Picture Association (MPA). In 1965, Turner Broadcasting System was founded by Ted Turner and was headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. A year later, Kinney National Company was founded, whose media division became Warner Communications before merging with Time Inc. to form Time Warner in 1990.
