Gallery "Das Gehöft" (Günter Horn & Karin Ugowski)
The Gallery “Das Gehöft” is a synonymous term used for art events at a secluded, romantic artist’s farmstead place surrounded by nature, situated on the edge of woods and fields in the heart of the Mecklenburg Lake District, surrounded by the songs of cranes and the vast expanses for which “Mecklenburg Switzerland” is so famous for, where the artist atelier with its clay oven, the double-sided red country house with its glass-roofed gallery courtyard, the additional summer gallery in the “old barn,” and indeed the entire farmstead regularly serve as a meeting place for events, concerts, exhibitions, and readings. A place where many artists of all kind have met over decades.
It is an art gallery, event venue, and atelier all in one for the two artists Günter Horn and Karin Ugowski. Günter Horn: a painter and graphic artist who has exhibited worldwide, with many of his works owned by renowned theater and film professionals. Karin Ugowski: an internationally renowned theater and film actress, voice actress, and film producer, and a member of the German Film Academy. Annual exhibitions and readings are highly sought-after in the region and always sell out. Together, the artists are committed to promoting culture in the region. For this work, Günter Horn received the Demmin District Culture Award in 2002.
