The first stirrings of autumn - yellow leaves - have lately begun to gather beneath the great trees lining the roadside. The first chilly nights had already announced, with a sharp metallic ring, that autumn was on its way at the beginning of September. And yet the late bloomers are still giving their blossoms one final surge of colour. But now the calendar has officially ushered in autumn as well, on September 23rd. And what could possibly be missing at such a moment? Quite right. The annual autumn reading at the Kunst- und Kulturhof, just a little way off the beaten track from Grammentin, surrounded by the spaciousness of autumn, by fields, water, woodland and meadows - in the very heart of Mecklenburg’s idyllic landscape.

So, dear friends and colleagues, guests of readings past, fellow travellers and fellow feelers, neighbours and cultural wanderers:

The theatre and film actress Karin Ugowski, known from cinema, television and the stage - and equally well known for her distinctive readings of witty and intriguing texts from across the centuries, always delivered with a knowing twinkle and a hint toward the present day - will be our guest on Sunday, October 11th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. (doors open at 10:30 a.m.) for a late-morning matinee.

She will present a collection of illustrious texts revolving around one very particular subject, under the humorous title:

“Lebenselixier… Quo vadis, Pro mille!”

The reading will take place in the heated Art Barn at the Kunsthof in Grammentin, a place cherished by those in the know, where we shall welcome the colourful season together.

Amid the Mecklenburg Lake District, surrounded by the much-admired works of the painter and graphic artist Günter Horn - which so wonderfully trace and reflect this very landscape - the occasion will, as always, be rounded off by a drink and a conversation after the reading, turning the second weekend of October into a small cultural highlight.

Among artists and friends of art and culture from the region and beyond, the venue has long been a much-loved meeting place, always open to anyone who would like to breathe in a little of the countryside and a little of culture. The readings are a particular form of cultural encounter - one that perhaps only such an atmosphere and setting can truly convey.

Given the level of demand, spontaneous visitors without reservations should bear in mind that there are often no seats left by the time they arrive.
