Grass Valley
Grass Valley, formerly known as the Grass Valley Group, develops and produces technologies for the film and television sector as well as transmission technology and digital cinema.
Grass Valley was founded in 1958 by Donald Hare as a small development company. The company was headquartered in Grass Valley in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. In 1964, Grass Valley demonstrated the first video distribution amplifier at the NAB Show. In 1968, the first video switcher was introduced, which quickly became the company's flagship product and the main attraction.
The financially troubled company merged with other companies several times over the years. In 2014, Grass Valley was sold on to the Belden Group for 220 million dollars. In February 2020, Belden sold the group to the private equity company Black Dragon Capital, which is affiliated with the editing software manufacturer Avid. (Source: Wikipedia)
