Cut Off (German: Abgeschnitten) is a 2018 German thriller film directed by Christian Alvart. It is based on the eponymous novel written by Sebastian Fitzek and Michael Tsokos, a medical examiner. "Cut Off" is the third film adaptation of a Fitzek novel. This thriller set in the world of Forensic Pathology. Coroner Paul Herzfeld finds a capsule in the head of a heavily mutilated corpse, containing a phone number and single word: the name of his daughter. The movie was released 2018 in Germany. 2019 it was part of the official selection of the 37th Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF). Many scenes in the film were shot on the original location on Helgoland. Employees of the Paracelsus North Sea Clinic appeared as extras. Other scenes were shot in Berlin, including in an abandoned factory building in the Schöneweide district and in the lecture hall of the Benjamin Franklin University Hospital.
Plot: On a small isolated island, Linda has to play a life-or-death game: she has to perform an autopsy to find the secret clues hidden in the corpse. If she doesn't help forensic surgeon Paul Herzfeld, she will never find her missing daughter. (Source: rotton tomatoes)
