International Fairy Tale Film Festival fabulix

The International Fairy Tale Film Festival fabulix (short form: fabulix) is an international film festival for children, young people and adults. It has been taking place in Annaberg-Buchholz in the Ore Mountains since 2017 and shows current fairy tale film productions as well as classics of this genre in various categories (feature film, short film, animation). The event is organized by the town of Annaberg-Buchholz. The fabulix lifetime achievement award is presented. The film festival is headed by festival director Filip Albrecht, who is the founding father of the festival together with the mayor of the town, Rolf Schmidt. Fabulix is one of the first fairytale film festivals in the world.

Under the motto “Fairytales of Silver and Gold”, Annaberg-Buchholz hosted fabulix again in 2019 from 28 August to 1 September, on a similar scale to two years previously. The honorary president was the actress Karin Ugowski. There were 230 events; a total of 40 films from 15 countries were shown in 130 screenings. The audience chose the German fairytale film Snow White and the Magic of the Dwarves as the winning film. A parade with hundreds of fairytale characters brought the festival to a festive close. The fabulix lifetime achievement award went to actor Jaecki Schwarz. (Source: Wikipedia)
